Ownership transparency for dental care
DoctorOwned helps patients and dental professionals inspect public ownership evidence without treating marketing claims or missing data as proof.
The problem
Patient-facing brands, billing organizations, management companies, private groups, and DSOs do not always share the same name. A search engine can show where an office is, but it may not explain who operates or owns it.
The approach
DoctorOwned connects public dental organization records with affirmative DSO sources and documented manual review. It uses explicit unknown and possible states so an automated screen is not mistaken for an ownership certificate.
Operator and structural conflict
DoctorOwned is operated by the team behind Smile Science Dental Spa in Glendale, Arizona. That relationship is a structural conflict and is disclosed rather than minimized. Smile Science and any practice owned or controlled by the operator cannot receive an operator-issued verified badge. Any future public verification of an operator-affiliated practice requires an independent reviewer, published sources, and the same fail-closed identity checks applied to every other record.
Neutrality commitments
- Payment never changes an ownership classification.
- Factual corrections and profile claims are reviewed free of charge.
- Sponsored content or placement must be labeled and cannot replace organic relevance.
- Compensated external links are not sold for search-ranking value.
- Practice results state their status, limitation, and date availability; detail pages identify the evidence method.
- Operator-affiliated practices are subject to recusal and independent review.
Source limitations
NPPES is the national provider identifier system, not an ownership, quality, licensing, or credentialing registry. Records may use legal entities rather than patient-facing names and can be stale or incomplete.
